The Waterloo Team for Sustainable Automotive Materials is about to be created. The official launching will happen in the Fall of 2008. It is intended to join forces in the Faculty of Engineering and accelerate the development of novel and sustainable materials for the automotive industry.
Sustainable materials should lower the environmental impact, be commercially feasible and deliver the appropriate technical requirements. Novel or existing materials, or combinations of those, will be investigated and implemented in actual vehicles, thus creating the AutoBIOmobile.
The AutoBIOmobile is meant to be a tool for exploring new ways to decrease the environmental impact caused by the transportation needs of our modern society.
The Sustainable Automotive Materials Team welcomes volunteers from all Departments in the University of Waterloo.
...........................................................AutoBIOmobile Diary - September 25, 2008
The first information session went on well. The place for the first meeting was the Fish Bowl across DC Library. About 40 people showed up, mostly undergrad students. Presentations were delivered: a) The AutoBIOmobile, by Prof. Simon; b) Sustainability Aspects, by Anya; and c) Natural Fiber Plastics Composites, by Pouyan. A period of questions happened after the presentations followed by savoring pizza and pop. A total of 27 people signed up with initial interest.
What’s next? We will organize the list of attendees, then contact by e-mail for another meeting. Keep tuned.
- Thanks to Pouyan for organizing the information session.
- A profile for AutoBIOmobile was created on Face-Book by Anya, great initiative.
Next meeting to be announced.
